로스쿨시대를 맞아 철학이 학부전공으로 인기를 끌고 있다고 합니다. 법학대학원 입학시험인 LEET에서 요구하는 논리력을 키울 수 있는 학문이라고 여기기 때문이라고 합니다. 철학이 생각하는 학문으로 알려져 있으니 나름대로 합리적인 선택같습니다.
"생각만"하는 학문 철학 (Philosophers don’t observe; we don’t experiment; we don’t measure; and we don’t count. We reflect.)에 새로운 흐름을 보이고 있습니다.

철학자들도 실험을 하기 시작한 것입니다 (But now a restive contingent of our tribe is convinced that it can shed light on traditional philosophical problems by going out and gathering information about what people actually think and say about our thought experiments.)
철학자들이 심리학자나 신경과학자들과 함께 마음에 대해 탐구하고 있는 점을 고려하면 지극히 자연스러운 변화라고 할수 있습니다. 실제로 요즘 철학전공 대학원생들이 fMRI판독법을 배운다고 합니다 (philosophy grad students who are teaching themselves how to read f.M.R.I. brain scans in order to try to figure out what’s going on when people contemplate moral quandaries.)
